While our meetings and most of our walks are open to the public, there are
definite benefits to joining the Mushroom Club of Georgia and renewing yearly.
The club holds a few members only walks (including our annual morel walk) each year. We often gain access to private and public properties not generally open to public.
The club provides numerous hands-on workshops throughout the year. Participation is limited to members only. Examples of past workshops are mushroom cultivation, wool and fabric dyeing using wild mushrooms and tree identification.
Including the Holiday dinner.
Timely notice of upcoming meetings and workshops are sent to members, bypassing the need to continually check the calendar on the website. The newsletter is also sent directly to members only.
The club has and is forming special interest groups focused on particular mycological interests such as culinary pursuits, mushroom photography and the environmental/sociological benefits of mushrooms. These groups and events are members- only.
Members can attend forays organized jointly with regional clubs from North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. This includes our annual Oconee Foray in South Carolina.
The Mushroom Club of Georgia is an affiliate club of the North American Mycological Association. Our members receive a discount of $3 on NAMA’s annual membership fee.
Members elect the club officers each year. Members can help serve the club’s interest by running for office or volunteering to assist in the club at meetings, walks, workshops and outreach events.
