MCG Zoom Meeting: Cookbooks authors Michelle Russell and Camille DeGabrielle

Michelle and Camille were brought together by their shared passion for mushrooms. They became friends through the course of writing, Just Mushrooms. Michelle Russell holds a Master’s Degree in education and worked as an educator and professor prior to starting The Kula Connection, LLC a plant-based food production company. Michelle became a plant based chef after a life-saving personal transformation, losing 80 pounds and the need for 12 prescription medications. She devoted 10 years of study to food’s effect on mood and the body’s ability to heal from lifestyle disease. Camille DeGabrielle holds a BFA in Industrial Design from Savannah College of Art & Design, and specializes in sustainability and biomimicry. She runs her own design company, Quanta Studio, which is recognized for its multi-disciplinary approach to design. Camille transitioned to a plant based diet after understanding the impact of animal agriculture on the natural world. This transition increased her practice of minimalism and desire to affect change for future generations. Both women believe that mushrooms are a powerful ally in creating a more sustainable future and have forged a strong bond through this shared belief which translated into the highly creative, beautiful set of recipes brought to you by, Just Mushrooms.
We decided to cook 3 different recipes that highlight the versatility of mushroom textures, and the methods used to cook them. 
 
The recipes we’re preparing to cook will be:
 
Lions Mane Chowder – Powder method
Oyster Steak – Pressing method
Black King Tacos – Shredding method
